Turtle Island is a hidden gem in the National Park, a renowned marine that got its start back in 1977 with some government backing. They play a crucial role since sea turtles face all sorts of hurdles, from human activities like fishing and pollution to threats from natural predators. Only about 1 in 1,000 hatchlings is likely to make it to adulthood. The island acts like a lab where marine biologists team up to do some ongoing research, like finding out how sand temperature influences the sex of hatchlings—a crucial piece in keeping the turtle population thriving for the future, the island's tourism fees directly support park management and conservation initiatives, which benefit the local community.

Starting location:

Start your adventure with a hassle-free hotel pickup at any sandakan area, travel with ease in a van or car with air conditioning. Get on the boat at the harbour and head to turtle island. Watch for the stunning sea view and the blue outside the boat. Once you reach the island, retire into your cottage and spend your day as you wish. Alternatively snorkelling around the island is the best at own self leisure time. At dawn after dinner, head to the turtle nesting observation where rangers will carefully shows turtle's arrival, witness the intricate egg-laying process and hatchery. Discover the turtles' life cycle and behaviour while observing them in their natural habitat. Evaluate the external risks to their populations and use the opportunity to release the young ones into the wild . During the nesting observation, our local guide will provide turtle insights.

Finish at:

After breakfast, leave the turtle island and return to Sandakan with drop-off at Sandakan Airport or Sandakan Hotel included.

What should i know before booking?

Tour start times may be delayed due to weather, sea conditions, unexpected company procedures. No water activities during the day, allowing travellers to enjoy at own leisure time eg, swimming and snorkelling. Also, keep in mind that any snorkelling gear and other activities aren't included and will be at your own expense.

Does the tour include pickup and drop-off?

All transfers and drop-offs are included in the Sepilok, Sandakan city, airport areas.

Can I get a refund if I missed some tour or only participated partial?

Unfortunately, the tour isn't refundable, so we can't really do anything about or getting that money back. Perhaps it would be best to simply participate.
